Spirituals to Host MAGMA Event in Alton, IL 

The River of Life Family Church of Alton, IL will be the site of an exciting evening of Gospel Music featuring Mid America Gospel Music Association performing artists.  The host group for the evening will be newcomers to MAGMA, but not new to Gospel Music, Fred Church and the Spirituals.  Joining them for the evening will be the Redemptions and the Wanda Mountain Boys.  Terry McKinzie will be the master of ceremony for the evening and will be performing as well.  This will be the final satellite concert prior to the MAGMA Gospel Music Jubilee in Farmington, MO on Nov.2 and 3 which will feature 30 plus MAGMA artists.

River of Life Family Church is located at 3401 Fosterburg Rd. in Alton, IL. The concert will be a 7 p.m. on Friday evening September 28, 2018. There will be a freewill offering received in support of the groups.

MAGMA Welcomes Covenant Quartet 

The Mid America Gospel Music Association's board of directors is pleased to announce the addition of Covenant Quartet to their roster of performing artists.  The popular quartet is based in Waynesville, MO and  has been a favorite of Gospel Music lovers in the Southwest MO area.  

The group is made up of Mike Freeman, manager and tenor, Greg Gabel, lead and past MAGMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Neil Walters, baritone, and newest addition, Kent Mathes, bass, MAGMA Charter Board Member and 2017 MAGMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

Boone Berry to Serve Internship 

The MAGMA board of directors is pleased to welcome Boone Berry as our first board intern.

 Boone is the son of Alan Berry, a long time member of the MAGMA family. Over the years, Boone has attended our meetings and often offered suggestions and incites.  His love for Southern Gospel Music is evident and his enthusiasm for the association is a great sign for the future of our music.  

Boone will attend meetings and have opportunity to share his ideas with the board.

Kevin Kappler Releases Concept Video, "The Country" 


Kevin Kappler announces his first music video to the recently recorded song "THE COUNTRY".  Written by Kevin and recorded with Daywind Records, "The Country" takes us to a place we remember and still love while pointing us heavenward to the country we truly long for.  The video was recorded by Daywind studio musician and Daywind personnel Micah Schweinsberg, who through his independent media ministry brings to life this concept at its best.

New Quartet Seeking Baritone and Bass 

 Joey Rhodes and Gary Brannaman are excited to announce the formation of a brand new male quartet in the St. Louis area. The two gospel music veterans are currently seeking applications for both the baritone and bass positions. The Kingdom Quartet can be contacted at 1-618-292-9236.

The Chosen Ones Announce 2018 Manchester Gospel Music Festival 


The Chosen Ones have announced the lineup for their annual Manchester Gospel Music Festival.  The 3 day event will take place the weekend of August 17-19 at Village Park in Manchester, IL.  The food booth will open up at 5 p.m. on Friday night, with music starting at 6, and will feature the Redemptions, New Legacy, the Diplomats and your hosts, the Chosen Ones.

The Saturday session starts at 12 with the food court, and the concert begins at 1.  Featured artists for the Saturday are, the Wanda Mountain Boys, the Lesters, Becky Lercher, Tim Lovelace and the Chosen Ones.

Sunday morning will conclude the weekends festivities with an outdoor worship service featuring the Guardians, the Chosen Ones with Brady Reuter bringing the message.  A chicken dinner will follow the service.

MAGMA Adds Fred Church and the Spirituals to Performance Roster 

MAGMA is pleased to announce the addition of Fred Church and the Spirituals to their roster of performing artists.  The Spirituals have been involved in the St. Louis Gospel Music scene since the 1960s.  

Fred Church is the founder and baritone vocalist for the group.  The Spirituals  have traveled extensively over the years, singing Southern Gospel Music.  The legendary Jake Hess, traveled with them for 1 1/2  years in the '80s  prior to the formation of the Masters V.  Singing lead for the group is Glen Gobel, formerly of the Lesters, Wanda Mountain Boys and Cornerstone 33 a.d.  Rounding out the group is tenor, Dan Enloe.  He is part of a singing family and brother to Neil and Phil Enloe of the Couriers Qt.  Danny traveled in full time music with the Eastmen Qt. of Pennsylvania.

MAGMA Welcomes United Voice to Perfomance Roster 

The Mid America Gospel Music Association is pleased to announce the addition of United Voice to their roster  of performing artists.  United Voice is an exciting male trio based in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

The  group's members have been involved in Gospel Music for many years. Tenor, Mike Franklin, is well known throughout the Gospel Music industry for his many years singing with the Melody Boys Qt.  Jeremy Ballinger has been with a number of groups through the years including, the Brashears, Under Grace and the Old Time Preachers Qt. Chris Bennett has a rich history in Southern Gospel Music as well having sang with Mike in Homeward Bound as well as with Southern Heritage Qt.
