The Davis Family is happy to announce the release of our new CD, "Sweet Is the Water". It was our privilege to be able to go to Nashville in October to record with Daywind Recording Studio. It was truly a wonderful experience for all of us, including our 8 and 9 year old grandkids.

BETHALTO, Ill. – Opal M. Lloyd, mother of singer/songwriter Janice Crow, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 10:45 p.m. EST. Opal peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 95 at the Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto, Illinois.

Lebanon's own New Horizons was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Mid America Gospel Music Association.

This is the first time in the organization's history the award has been presented to a group, according to MAGMA President Gary O'Neal.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Charles William Unthank, father of Deon Unthank (SoGospelNews.com, Sunday Edition) passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 6:10 p.m. EST. Charles (known as Bill to all who knew him) peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 88.

Deon Unthank said, “While my heart is very heavy right now with the loss of my Dad this weekend, I am evermore rejoicing. He has his mind back, he's no longer old and ailing, and most of all he has already met the Savior of his life face to face.”

Bill was an Army Ranger who fought bravely in World War II. He worked for 52 years as a master painter and paper-hanger. He was a member of the Church of God (Cleveland) where he faithfully served his Savior.

Bill is survived by his wife, Evadean and three children, Brenda (Harold) Downing, Deon (Susan) Unthank, and Chery (Gene) Gray. Bill led a blessed and devoted life to his family and faith. In addition to his three children, Bill was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren through the course of his life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, Illinois from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the same funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Bill’s son-in-law, Bishop Harold Downing, will be officiating the service. Cards and flowers are welcome and appreciated. The Unthank family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.

On Sunday evening, December 6, 2009, Regina Grizzle was called into eternity. She had battled Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes and several other medical issues through the years. Regina traveled as part of the Southern Gospel group, Crimson River and at one time was a featured vocalist with the group. She was known for the song “Daystar”. Over the last few years she had come off the road to battle her illnesses but she never gave up the faith that God had healing in store for her. On Sunday evening, she received the ultimate healing and is now with the one that she sang about. Please be in prayer for her husband, Andy Grizzle, as he deals with this great loss Visitation and funeral arrangements are as follows. Visitation 9-11 on Thursday December 10, 2009 Funeral 12 p.m. Thursday December 10, 2009 Services will be held at New Life Fellowship in Moline, IL, .The church is located at 2345 19th Street in Moline.

The New Horizons, a sibling trio based in Lebanon, MO are the latest addition to the MAGMA family of artists. One of the Midwest’s most popular groups, this trio has appeared on some of the biggest Southern Gospel events in our region.
The Mid America Gospel Music Association is pleased to announce the addition of popular soloist, Beckey Lercher, to their family of artists. Becky has an exciting voice and will be a great addition to the roster of soloists that are involved with MAGMA.

The Chosen Ones, one of the Midwest’s most popular family groups has joined the Mid America Gospel Music Association’s roster of performing artists. They will be making their first appearance at the 2009 MAGMA convention.
The board of directors of the Mid America Gospel Music Association is excited to announce the addition of the Shepherdsmen Quartet to their roster of performing artists.
It truly is a new season for The Shepherdsmen Quartet of Southern Illinois. In existence since 2002, The Shepherdsmen Quartet has weathered the storms that come from conflicting beliefs, personalities, and lifestyles.
Crown of Joy from New Haven, MO were recently in the studio cutting tracks for their new Morningstar project. They are excited about being a part of the Eddie Crook Company.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone that was involved in this year’s Fall Convention. From the singers and musicians to the overall general membership to the folks who took time to buy tickets and attend, thank you for making this one of the best conventions yet.
“Best Convention Ever”. Those words and sentiments were echoed again and again at the close of the Mid-America Gospel Music Association’s Ninth Annual Convention held November 7 and 8 in Farmington, Missouri. The Centene Center played host to a packed house and proved once again to be an excellent venue for MAGMA’s yearly event.
Southern Tradition, a Southern Gospel trio based in DesLoge, MO has announced the addition of Terry Reynolds. Terry joins the group as tenor replacing Gospel Music veteran, Bill Schell.
Popular sibling trio the Southern Brothers have scored their latest Top 40 hit. The group’s current single – “God Knows” – debuted at #35 on the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart two weeks ago. The song is currently ranked at #33 on the chart in its third week on the Top 40.
