The Dysart Family releases their new CD There Is A Hope
The Dysart family is excited about their new CD, There Is A Hope, released October 2009. Their new CD includes some classic southern gospel songs, as well as newly written gospel songs, and some mildly contemporary ones. The title song is one of the two original songs written by LeWain on this CD. The three youngest boys sing Jesus Died So I won’t Have To, with Clayton learning a tenor part for the first time. The older children, Kendra and LeWain II, join Mom and Dad for close family quartet harmonies, trios and duets. Their tight family harmonies give them a sound that is simply the Dysart's.
Roger Talley, of the Talley Trio, co-produced the CD with LeWain Dysart. The Dysart’s felt privileged to have Roger involved in their CD project. His musical talents and recording experience were invaluable.
August of 2009 found the Dysart family at Crossroads studio, in Ashville, SC. The recording process began there with Roger Talley at the piano, Jeremy Medkiff on electric guitar and bass, Tony Creasman on drums, and David Johnson playing acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, harp, and steel guitar. These talented musicians love the Lord, and are committed to quality. The Dysarts were blown away by their skill and creativity.
After the tracks were recorded at Crossroads, the Dysart family headed to Morristown, TN where their vocals were recorded at Roger’s studio, Summit. Roger also acted as vocal coach during the recording process. The Dysarts found Roger to be compassionate during times that everything was overwhelming, musically talented as he helped them tweak some vocal harmonies, committed to getting the best out of them, and able to keep some fun and laughter going throughout.
There were times when everyone wondered how this recording would come together. Most groups will take six months for a CD project, but, because of various time restraints, the Dysarts only had three months. Between work, a two week concert tour out west in July, and Youth Camp right after the tour, the family found that time was precious as they practiced daily. The week between Youth Camp and recording was dedicated to nailing down the songs, but that plan fell apart when Kendra, the lead singer, came home from camp sick and unable to sing. To top things off, there was a last minute decision to add two brand new songs on the Sunday before recording began on Tuesday. When the Dysarts arrived at the Crossroads studios on Tuesday they found that two of the four musicians were late because their cars broke down. One rented a car and was just an hour late. This gave them enough musicians to begin. However the other musician had to get towed and wait for his mini van to be repaired, since he carried several instruments in it. He arrived four hours late. When recording finally began the engineer stated that "anytime Satan fights this hard I know it is going to be a good project."
After tracking was over Kendra still was not able to sing. LeWain and Roger decided to go ahead with recording vocals the next day, if the Lord allowed Kendra to sing then they would record, if not, then they would have to reschedule. LeWain, Lorena, and Kendra went into Summit Studios on Wednesday to see if Kendra could sing. After ten days of no voice Kendra was finally able to sing on the morning that vocals were to be recorded. After recording the first two songs, with Kendra's voice coming through clear and beautiful, LeWain cried as he remembered huddling his family in prayer back in May as they asked Jesus to make this CD His.
The Dysart family felt the Lord’s blessing as they have prepared for this new CD, There Is A Hope, and it is their prayer that these songs will be a blessing where ever they sing, and their CD is played.
